Of course every day at the office is different, but some tasks are more common than others during my work days. Follow me on a typical day as a trainee within the Group Controlling department!
.15-8.30 I arrive at the office and briefly check my e-mail and calendar for the day before going down to the ground floor to have some…
.30-9.00 …Breakfast! Usually together with colleagues from my department, the trainees or other co-workers at the office.
.00-10.00 Department meeting with Group Controlling. We go through the list of projects undertaken by the department in addition to everyone’s daily work, update each other and make sure everything is on track.
.00-12.00 Interviews for my main project concerning improving the monthly management reporting. The Lantmännen group consists of many different companies that all need to report their financial result to Lantmännen’s management monthly. Therefore the project requires me to interview co-workers working with reporting within these companies, usually the company Chief Financial Officers. The interviews give great insight into the Lantmännen operations as well as an opportunity to meet and get acquainted with many people within the group.
.00-13.00 Lunch! My colleagues at Group Controlling usually go out somewhere to eat during lunch but it is also common to bring a lunch box. The Stockholm office has no own lunch restaurant but a great dining room facility. I usually have lunch with either colleagues from the department or the other trainees. Lunch is also a great opportunity to get to know other interesting co-workers at the office and find out more about what people work with at Lantmännen.
.00-14.00 Project group meeting with colleagues within Group Controlling who are involved in the management reporting project. We discuss material collected and map out the next steps. Many different stakeholders are involved in the project, making communication a crucial factor.
.00-16.00 Project group meeting or workshop with another project I am involved in concerning business development of the Lantmännen business. The project group consists of people with deep knowledge in certain areas within Lantmännen, which makes the discussions very interesting. My role is to develop a benchmark study of companies operating within a certain market of interest, with help from a consulting firm.
.00-17.30 E-mail time and checking boxes on my to-do list. Booking meetings and interviews for the coming days, prepare material and plan for upcoming meetings and activities.
Until next time!
