We're looking for a proactive and organised Maintenance Planner to join our engineering team at our busy Bedford bakery. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys coordinating maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement, and making a real impact on operational performance.

Working closely with the Engineering Manager and Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for planning and scheduling preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities across a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Your work will help maximise equipment reliability, improve workforce productivity, and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to production.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and scheduling all maintenance activities in line with production requirements
  • Managing maintenance work orders and ensuring jobs are completed on time
  • Coordinating labour, materials, tools, parts and contractor requirements
  • Supporting the development and optimisation of the site's CMMS system
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and producing performance reports
  • Liaising with production and engineering teams to prioritise maintenance activities
  • Driving improvements in planning processes, work request procedures and maintenance effectiveness
  • Helping to develop asset hierarchies and maintenance strategies within the CMMS system.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator or Engineering Planning role
  • Strong understanding of maintenance practices within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and reliability
  • Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar fast-paced production environment would be highly advantageous.

The Person

You'll be someone who:

  • Takes ownership and works proactively
  • Has excellent attention to detail
  • Builds strong relationships across departments
  • Is comfortable challenging existing ways of working to drive improvement
  • Enjoys balancing office-based planning activities with time spent out on site
  • Thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Why Join Us?

This is a great opportunity to play a key role within a well-established engineering team, helping to drive maintenance excellence across a large-scale manufacturing site. You'll have the chance to influence processes, improve equipment reliability and contribute directly to the success of a major operation.
