A receptionist who knows your name before you two have even met, walls covered in 
pictures of Swedish farmland and breakfast to start off every work day – I feel right at home at Lantmännen’s corporate headquarters!
As I walked into the Lantmännen HQ building for the first time, on my way to sign my contract of employment last spring, my first impression was a cheerful “Hej Kajsa!”-greeting. The greeting came from the receptionist Jörgen, who I had never met but who had already learnt my name. My second impression was seeing the walls, covered from floor to ceiling with a wallpaper picturing Swedish farmland, creating a homely feeling. In the midst of it all was a small grocery store, selling Lantmännen’s different brands of food.
This place, the Lantmännen HQ in Stockholm, is where I have spent the last six weeks. As you may have grasped from reading this blog, there are a range of different companies operating within the Lantmännen group, in Sweden and abroad. The group truly consists of operations “from field to fork”, ranging between agriculture, machinery, energy, food, and even real estate. No wonder a Common Functions organization is needed, providing services such as HR, communication and finance – and this is where I come in!
My first placement within Lantmännen is at Group Controlling in the finance function. With a past academic background within Accounting and Financial Management, working at Group Controlling fits me like a glove. My main project concerns improvement of the management reporting material and has required me to interview many different persons within the group, for example all company CFOs. This has given me a great overview of the entire group and taught me about financial reporting within it.
Oh, and did I mention every day is started off with breakfast with colleagues? Being a breakfast enthusiast my work days could not get a better start!
